地質調查(一)


本課程提供學生一個體驗野外地質工作的機會。課程的內容以實地勘測為主，區域考察為輔。由於研習的內容需要有普通地質學的知識作為基礎，因此適合地質系本科大學生選修。非地質系學生如欲選修，需事先與老師洽談，並獲得老師之同意。

野外實查之考察地區為台灣東部的海岸山脈，調查工作的標的是秀姑巒溪剖面的奇美斷層。在野外工作開始前，會舉行一行前會議，說明工作的詳細內容，及相關的學理知識。野外工作後，另有一行後會議，討論如何彙整野外收集的資料及撰寫報告。初步之教學內容及時間表如下(註：可視情況調整)：

修課同學之成績將依下列標準評定：
1.行前、行後會議之參與 10%
2.野外之工作表現 40%
3.學期報告 50%

註：選修同學需誠心配合團體行動，注意旅行及工作之安全，並自行負擔相關之交通、食宿及保險費用。



GEOLOGICAL SURVEYING (Ⅰ)

The course provides for the students a chance to experience the hand-on work of geological surveying. It involves a small-scale field survey of a well-exposed fault zone and a reconnaissance of the Coastal Range of eastern Taiwan. Since a background knowledge of general geology is required; the course is better suited for geosciences majors. Students outside the Geosciences should consult with the teacher before signing in the course.

The surveying site for this semester is the Chimei fault exposed in the Hsuikuluanchi section of the middle Coastal Range. Before the fieldwork, we will hold a meeting to talk about the basic geology of the Coastal Range and the methods of fault surveying. Post-trip meeting will be held to discuss the data collected from the field and demonstrate how to synthesize the data and write the term report. The tentative schedule of the course is as below:
